Buying Guide: Key Purchase Considerations
- Intended setting: Choose statues or kits sized for your display space, whether a home altar, classroom, or church entrance display.
- Material and finish: Look for durability (polyresin or cast metal) and finishes (hand-painted, gold trim) that align with your decor and maintenance preferences.
- Complements and themes: Consider whether you want a single-stature focus, a small set of prayer cards, or a mixed collection including medals and figurines for varied devotion.
- Portability and gifting: Compact medals and prayer cards are easy to carry or mail as gifts, while larger statues may remain best for fixed displays.
- Religious associations: St. Thomas More’s historical role as a statesman and martyr may inspire selections for professional or academic settings; St. Thomas Aquinas items emphasize philosophy and theology.
- Quality and authenticity: Verify origin, such as Italian-made medals, and the reputation of brands like VP&P, Needzo, Ebros Gift, Westman Works, and Hirten for reliability.
- Care and preservation: For laminated cards or delicate finishes, ensure proper storage and display lighting to prevent fading or wear.
- Budget and pairing: Balance the number of pieces with your budget; larger figurines command more display space but can create a focal point, while cards and medals provide versatile, economical options.
