Playaboule Glow 85mm LED Bocce Ball Set
This 85mm lighted bocce ball set from Playaboule stands out for runtime and user-friendly features. The patented V5 Li-ion plug powers balls with a claimed 45 hours of glow, significantly longer than many competitors. The kit includes batteries preinstalled and offers three light modes: solid on, slow flashing, and pulse. A brief press cycles through modes, and a one-second press turns the lights on or off. The U.S.-made balls weigh about 0.8 pounds each, and the set is designed for American bocce play standards, providing a balance between glow visibility and authentic weight.
Key features include: long runtime, an exclusive Playaboule design, simple push-button operation, and rapid mode switching. The 85mm size is compatible with most backyard sets and is ideal for games with family and friends after sunset. This option is well-suited for lawn or beach play where visibility and reliability are essential.
GoSports 85 mm LED Bocce Ball Set
The GoSports 85mm LED Bocce Ball Set brings bright, even illumination to a classic game. Each ball contains an ultra-bright LED powered by included batteries, ensuring visibility anywhere from a sunny backyard to a moonlit beach. The set includes eight 85mm bocce balls in four colors (two of each color), a pallino, a measuring device, and a carrying case. With eight balls and a dedicated pallino, the kit is ready for quick setups and casual play sessions. The lightweight 8.5-ounce balls promote easy handling while maintaining the feel of traditional bocce.
Highlights include straightforward setup, reliable battery life, and a social, event-friendly design. The carrying case helps with transport to picnics and parties, while the variety of colors makes team play easy to track in low light. This option is ideal for homeowners who want durability without sacrificing nighttime play aesthetics.
Playaboule Glow 107mm Lighted Bocce Ball Set
This is a larger, full-sized version of Playaboule’s glow bocce set, designed to meet federation-like dimensions with 107mm diameter balls and a weight around 1.2 pounds per ball. The kit includes multiple glow modes with Li-ion plug power, ensuring extended playtime while keeping the authentic feel of competition-level bocce. The included controls allow a clear on/off and mode switching, while the larger size improves throw arc and reach, especially on outdoor surfaces such as grass or sand.
Attributes to consider here are the balance between glow duration and actual ball heft. The 107mm size offers a more traditional bocce experience for players who want closer to regulation gameplay while enjoying the glow features. This set is well-suited for more serious nights of backyard bocce where style and performance matter equally.
Water Sports Glow In The Dark Bocce Set
Water Sports’ glow-in-the-dark bocce set focuses on easy play and portability. The glow balls, along with a carry case, make it straightforward to transport to campsites, parks, or the beach. An on/off switch helps conserve battery life when the lights are not needed, and the set’s overall design emphasizes user-friendly operation. The glow effect enhances nighttime visibility and encourages longer play sessions in outdoor environments with varied lighting conditions.
Considerations include battery life, switching efficiency, and the availability of a compact case for travel. If you want a simple, reliable glow bocce experience without extra frills, Water Sports offers a practical option that prioritizes usability in outdoor settings.
Xeuch Light Up Dog Ball LED Toy
Xeuch’s light-up ball is designed for dogs but doubles as a general-purpose lighted ball you can repurpose for casual nighttime play. It includes two lighting modes and a color-changing LED with a shock sensor, ensuring visibility and engagement for pets and humans alike. The toy uses a thicker rubber cover for durability and bounce, making it suitable for rough play. The safety standards align with children’s toys, providing peace of mind for households with kids and pets.
While it’s marketed as a dog toy, its LED features and robust construction make it a versatile option for glow ball enthusiasts seeking playful, reliable illumination beyond traditional bocce sets. This option may suit buyers looking for a more general-purpose glow ball with broad applicability.
Buying Guide: Key Purchase Considerations
- Glow duration and battery options: Look for sets with long runtimes and rechargeable options to minimize ongoing cost and downtime. Check whether batteries come preinstalled and if there are easy replacement steps.
- Size and weight: Standard bocce balls typically range around 85–107 mm in diameter and weigh between 0.8–1.2 pounds. Match the ball size to your playing surface and skill level, especially if you’re aiming for a tournament-like feel.
- Light modes and control: A good glow bocce set should offer multiple modes (solid, flashing, pulsing) and a straightforward method to switch between them. Ensure a quick press or switch operation to avoid interrupting play.
- Durability and materials: Resin or high-grade plastic bodies with robust LEDs resist outdoor conditions—wind, sand, moisture, and impacts. Consider sets with protective coatings or stronger shells for longevity.
- Portability and storage: A carrying case or bag helps transport the set and keep accessories organized. If you camp or travel frequently, size and weight matter for packing efficiency.
- Team play and visibility: For nighttime games, choose high-contrast color options (red, green, yellow, blue) and evenly distributed LED brightness to distinguish teams and pallino clearly.
- Compliance and authenticity: If you aim for a more formal bocce experience, consider sets that mimic regulation dimensions and weights, ensuring a closer match to standard outdoor bocce rules.
- Additional accessories: Pallino balls, measuring tapes, and coasters or racks can improve the playing experience and scoring accuracy in dim light.
- Maintenance: Check if the ball surfaces are easy to wipe and dry and whether the LEDs or batteries are replaceable or rechargeable over time.
In choosing among these options, weigh the importance of runtime, authentic bocce feel, and portability. For beginners and casual players, a lighter, more colorful set with easy handling may be ideal. For enthusiasts seeking a closer approximation to official bocce play, a larger, heavier ball with robust construction and longer glow time might be preferable. Pet-friendly or multipurpose lighting can be a bonus if you host mixed-age events or outdoor gatherings.
